These are some of the fascinating “monster” characteristics of some sea animals. The Sea Monsters Traveling Exhibit engages your visitors in these mysterious and intriguing attributes, and explains how they are adaptations to extreme underwater environments. During the interactive videoconference, participants will choose extreme categories and learn about animals that use these special survival strategies.

Exhibit Features

  • Monster Makeover panel where visitors can see themselves with different monster attributes.
  • Fold-down Sea Puzzle with large tiles that visitors move to make up a picture of extreme animals.
  • Jaws panel featuring a mako shark jaw and tooth-diet matching activity.
  • Central gallery with shark skin that can be touched, model of a colossal squid beak, small diorama of bioluminescent animals, and scale sized eyeball models for giant squid, blue whale and cow.
  • Inflated giant squid sits on top of the exhibit.

Details

Footprint: The exhibit is approximately 12 ft. long and 4 ft. wide. The removable inflated squid on Sea Monsters makes the exhibit a total of 9 ft. high.

Electrical/Internet Requirement: The exhibit needs a 120V electrical connection. It draws less than 5 amps. An Ethernet connection to the Internet is required for IVC video programs.

IVC Video Programs: Interactive videoconference programs will be scheduled according to the host’s needs. 4 videoconference programs are included in the rental fee. More programs may be scheduled at an additional charge. A test connection from the exhibit to SeaTrek studios prior to the programs is required.

Assembly: The exhibit is made up of three rolling modules and one crate. The videoconference system, TV monitor and DVD player are built into the exhibit. Each module and the crate fit through a standard doorway. Setup instructions and exhibit covers are included in the shipment. The exhibit can be set up and taken down by host staff. If preferred, set up crew will come to the host site for an additional charge.

Educational Materials: Five sample Children’s Activity Books are included in each rental. Additional books for visitor use or sale in the host’s giftshop are available at an additional charge.

Media Kit: A media kit is included with rental. This includes short promotional video, press release template, Fun Fact sheet and color posters.

Shipping: Shipping rates vary with location and season. Mote staff or the host site will arrange shipping. The host is responsible for inbound shipping charges.

Insurance: Proof of liability and property insurance is required for exhibit rental.

Exhibit Information and Rental

$2,500 for one month period. Includes 4 live interactive videoconference programs. Additional weeks may be added, depending on availability, at a rate of $500 per week.
