- Content Provider Description: SeaTrek is a videoconference- and Web site-based distance learning program at Mote Marine Lab. Its purpose is to develop, test, and deliver highly engaging, interactive live programs featuring real-world science at Mote, to students in the classroom. The programs can be easily incorporated by the classroom teacher to complement science taught in the classroom with a window into current science research. The focus is teaching the nature of science and connections to general science concepts, rather than simply conveying information. Mote educators connect with one class at a time, with a goal of capturing student interest, to inspire students to learn more about the topic and science in general. The videoconferences have supporting content units, with lessons, activities, and research projects, and are aligned with National Education Standards.
