Due to lack of funding sources, Mote Marine Laboratory will not be offering JASON Expedition: Mysteries of Earth and Mars professional development workshops scheduled for Summer 2005.
After many years of partnership, growth and change, Mote Marine Laboratory (MML) and the Jason Foundation for Education (JFE) have determined that we must realign our partnership to reflect the mission, goals, expertise, and interests of both MML and JFE.
Therefore, I am pleased to announce a unique opportunity between Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium and our partners at the Jason Foundation for Education. The coming 2005-2006 Jason Expedition: Mysteries of Earth and Mars will team the on-site capabilities of the Mote Immersion Cinema with the educational support of the JFE.
This agreement will allow southwest Florida educators and their students to view the coming expedition broadcast at MML, while seeking their curricular support directly from the experts at JFE, www.jason.org.
If you are still interested in participating in the 2005-2006 JASON Expedition, please contact JFE directly at http://www.jason.org/jason_science/howtoorder.htm.
The cost of the 2005-2006 JASON Expedition Teacher Pack from JFE is $339.00.
NOTE: The cost of the Teacher curriculum pack does not include the fee for expedition training.
If you are interested in attending a JASON Academy Expedition Training Professional Development Workshop, please visit http://www.jason.org/jason_academy/overview.htm
If you have registered and submitted payment for a JASON @ Mote Workshop, your check will be returned to you, postmarked by June 24th, 2005. If you do not receive your refund check in a timely fashion, please contact Kasey Gaylord at kasey@mote.org or 1-800-691-MOTE ext.263.
Mote Marine Laboratory will present the JASON Expedition broadcast, yet the new format will not allow us to be an interactive site. This event will be dependent on sufficient participation from teachers and students and we will not be able to offer value added exhibits at Mote, such as the JASON Stations.
NOTE: Registration for this event will close on at 5pm on Friday, December 16th, 2005.
Mote Marine Laboratory's Education Division would like to continue to offer Professional Development programs for educators based on Mote's scientific research. Each workshop will focus on a specific marine organism and will involve a variety of activities led by Mote's educators, a visit Immersion Cinema to become a great white shark, and meet Mote scientists! These workshops will help you to reach Sunshine State and National Education Standards and earn in-service credits.
If you are interested in more information about these workshops, please contact Kasey Gaylord at kasey@mote.org or
1-800-691-MOTE ext.263.
We apologize for any inconveniences. If you have any questions, please contact Kasey Gaylord, Mote's JASON Coordinator at kasey@mote.org or 1-800-691-MOTE ext.263.
